Katharine Davies

MSTA: Teacher Consultant

Katharine has 28 years of experience as a Head teacher and has worked as a Primary Consultant Leader with a number of schools - in Merton, Kingston and Croydon. She worked for five years as a London Challenge Local Leader of Education.

She recently retired from Headship and is now working as a Education Consultant for MSTA. She is also currently a Merton Leader of Education and continues to work with schools in the borough, supporting new Headteachers and working as a Merton Education Partner with 2 schools.

She has a wide range of experience to draw upon in offering support and guidance to colleagues as she was Head teacher of a small one form entry first school which changed to a two form entry school and then had to become an all through primary school under borough re-organisation. Fourteen years ago, she took up a second headship as head teacher of a large two form school in Merton which expanded to three form and underwent a large new build expansion programme. Both schools had high levels of multi- ethnic and EAL pupils.

Katharine has undertaken Headteacher Performance Management for several Headteachers over the last 7 years. She also undertakes Pupil Premium reviews in schools in Merton and Kingston – working with Headteachers and their designated teams to identify areas for development and put in place supportive strategies to bring about change.

She supports the delivery of the NPQML and NPQSL programmes and also leads on supporting schools in Creating Positive Learning Environments using a Communicating Friendly settings and Clever Classroom approach. Katharine has devised the NQT+ programme with her 2 other colleagues that is currently offered in Merton and to teachers in neighbouring boroughs.
